Job Vacancy at St Mary’s

Part Time Mission and Ministry Administrator

Headington St Mary’s Church in Barton (CofE) is looking for a highly motivated individual to assist our clergy team and lay staff with the Mission and Ministry of our growing and busy church with a vision to see the Kingdom of God flourish in our Parish.

St Mary’s Church runs a number of activities for and with our local community, and these come with an administrative burden. The Mission and Ministry Administrator will be motivated to help these activities grow by proficient administration and working closely with the clergy team and lay staff.

St Mary’s Church is also a vibrant and growing worshipping community. The Mission and Ministry Administrator will be a vital part of the ministry team in organising rotas, communicating with our congregation, and managing our I.T. and database systems.

The hours are 15 hours per week, over an average of four days per week, to be paid at up to £15.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a two-year fixed term contract, with the potential to extend.

WHO’S WHO AT ST MARY’S

Clergy and Associate Staff

ERIC BOSSWARD

Eric has been St. Mary's vicar since 2016 when he and his wife moved down to Oxford from t’ North. He’s a Man City fan but let’s not hold that against him. Eric is currently on compassionate leave following the sad death of his wife Lynn.

 

WILL DONALDSON

Assistant Minister Will recently retired from his diocesan job as Director of New Congregations. He loves St Mary’s and heads up the Pastoral Team, as well as help out on Sundays when needed.

SAM DURLEY

Sam has been our Curate since July 2023 and lives here in Barton with his wife and two children. Sam is a keen rugby player and will often be seen running around Barton trying to stay fit!

 

DAVID BIRD

Assistant Minister David was a youth worker and then a vicar in Northamptonshire and London for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 2019. He is helping to lead forward plans for St Mary’s buildings as well as helping out on Sundays.

FIONA TRACEY

Fiona has been part of the congregation for a number of years and at the beginning of 2020 was appointed as our Community Development Worker to further partnerships and opportunities with our local community.

ANNE GALLACHER

Has been churchwarden for some years having moved to Oxford from Cardiff with her husband John. They live on Sandhills.

 

Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults

The PCC has responsibility for the Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults and has appointed Zoe Aylett as Parish Safeguarging officer working alongside Revd Eric Bossward and Wendy Jones

TIM WRAITH

Became churchwarden in 2023. He is married to Juliet and works in Fundraising for Homeless Oxfordshire. He is a keen runner and accomplished cook.

 

ZOE AYLETT

Hi! I’m Zoe, I’m 28, Scottish, a midwife and I love St Mary’s church! I am part of the safeguarding team with Rev Eric Bossward and Wendy Jones.

WENDY JONES

Wendy is a longstanding member of St Mary's and married to Trevor. She serves the church as the PCC Secretary.

TREVOR JONES

Trevor has served in a number of roles for the church over the years as a PCC member and church warden. He is currently the PCC Treasurer.
