The picture above shows St Mary’s congregation before we moved out of the church building - sadly a number of the folk pictured there have passed away or moved on however,…………..
We are a church in transition - we have moved back into the church building and (apart from a few “snaggings” which we are dealing with) we are enjoying the feel of the new St Mary’s and our new vicar starts on 2nd September and so now we can work out together how we can move forward in loving and serving our parish.
Our new vicar!!
We are very pleased that Revd Erik Heemskerk is the next Vicar of St Mary’s. (You can see his picture on the who’s who page!!) and he will lead us on, building on all that Eric Bossward has done.
Erik (with a ‘k’!) is married to Rosemarie and has a young family. Erik is no stranger to Oxford, having trained at Wycliffe Hall and completing a year’s placement at St James’ church in Cowley. His passions include sharing the good news of Jesus and equipping others to live out their Christian lives in the community. For him this is undergirded by prayer, study and being visible in the community. He said that the profile description of the parish ‘made his heart sing’!
We are looking forward to welcoming him and his family to the parish.
